Humanities specialising in Educational Sciences
Humanities specialising in Educational Sciences deals with approaches to problems and perspectives within learning, knowledge formation and knowledge processes. These approaches to problems and perspectives are to link to one or more of the other third-cycle subject areas at the Faculty of Arts. The ambition is that the postgraduate studies will give a solid knowledge and excellent skills in independent research, how to publish in international journals, as well as teaching skills. The education is also designed to lay the foundation for post-doctoral scholarly work.
Historical research that focuses on education and didactics is in essence multi-disciplinary. Within the disciplines of History, Archaeology, and Classical Archaeology and Ancient History relevant areas of research could be within cultural heritage and education or history didactics. The successful candidate is expected to cooperate with researchers working on relevant topics in various fields.
The aim of the cross-disciplinary PhD-programme in Historical Studies and Education Science is the development of an independent researcher with critical acumen, whose research will have an impact on society and who will be able to support others in their learning processes. The successful candidate will acquire a deeper insight into the theoretical basis and methodology of their own discipline and of education and didactics. The dissertation is expected to contribute to knowledge development in History, Archaeology, or Classical Archaeology and Ancient History.
