Gede’o, a Highland East Cushitic Language, exhibits a binary distinction between declarative and non-declarative mood. Interestingly, mood is conveyed through verbal inflection, rather than using particles. The present contribution investigates the strategies of mood marking and function in declarative, imperative, jussive, and optative moods in Gede’o. A declarative mood, for instance, contrasts with an interrogative in that the latter is characterized with the absence of the verb final declarative suffix.
