Human Rights research

The School of Global Studies conducts interdisciplinary research and teaching in human rights that mainly addresses issues related to the implementation of human rights and rights-based development in a variety of current problem areas.

About

Research within Human Rights involves corporate social responsibility, indigenous and minority rights, human rights in natural disasters, gender and human rights, freedom of religion, the relationship between democracy and human rights, health equity, and whistleblowing.

News

The School of Global Studies is a member of the network Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI), which consists of 75 member institutions that carry out research and education in the field of human rights across every continent. At their annual executive committee board meeting, held on 12 April 2024, the network issued a statement on the war in Gaza.

They write:

As human rights scholars, we must stress that International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law must be respected under all circumstances and irrespective of the contexts of a conflict.
