About Rajna Knez

Rajna is a senior physician, psychiatrist, and licensed psychotherapist. She specialises in child and adolescent psychiatry, as well as adult psychiatry, with a subspeciality in social psychiatry. Since 2015, Rajna has been working at Skaraborg's hospital, where she currently serves as the managing authority overseeing research, development, education, and innovation across multiple several departments, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Women's health. Beyond her hospital duties, Rajna serves as a medical advisor in the West Sweden Healthcare Region. She is also the Regional Study Director for the field for Psychiatry. Rajna holds academic positions as adjunct senior lecturer and associate professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the GNC, Institution for Neuroscience and Physiology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She is also an adjunct senior lecturer in Health Science at the University of Skövde, Sweden.

Research interests

Rajna holds a PhD in Biomedicine, field of Psychiatry, from the School of Medicine at the University of Rijeka, Croatia. After her dissertation, her post-doctoral research centred on youth mental health, particularly in the context of transcultural psychiatry. In recent years, her research has also expanded to include diagnosis under the ESSENCE umbrella, as well as health in the digital society, with a specific emphasis on mental health. She is interested in understanding both challenges and opportunities of digitalisation. This includes the development and implementation of digital tools in medicine and healthcare, as well as the mental health problems associated with a digitalised society, such as problematic internet use. Another aspect of Rajna’s research interests involves the use of digital tools in education, including the use of virtual patient.
