Research interests

Sara has worked clinically in child and adolescent psychiatry for the past 17 years. Early in her career, she noticed that adolescents with psychiatric conditions also seemed vulnerable to physical illness, inflammation, and pain. This led to her first publication, which was a survey study with children and adolescents who were attending their first visit in child and adolescent psychiatry, where they answered questions about physical illnesses, medication, and pain. Her second publication, a project plan for the ongoing clinical study within the child and adolescent psychiatry assessment unit, focuses on children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In that study, we have just completed data collection and will analyze the survey responses and saliva samples. The third publication was an analysis of data from a national survey, Meshe, where adolescents across Sweden answered questions about psychiatric and somatic issues. The focus of the third article was specifically on ADHD and pain. The fourth article, which also uses the same data, is not yet published and focuses on ADHD and somatic comorbidity.
