Malin Broberg proposed as next Vice-Chancellor

Published

The University Board has today, 20 January, unanimously decided to propose Malin Broberg as new Vice-Chancellor of University of Gothenburg. She is currently Dean at the Faculty of Social Sciences. She will take office as Vice-Chancellor on 1 July.

This means that the Board followed the line of the so-called consultative assembly. The consultative assembly is a collegially elected group that is advisory to the Board, and consists of 70 students, teachers/researchers, and other staff. The assembly interviewed the candidates last week and after a closed vote, Malin Broberg received a majority of the votes.

”I look forward to working with Malin Broberg as Vice-Chancellor. She takes over from Eva Wiberg at an important stage when the work on our vision must continue, the plans for new buildings must be realised, and our international relations must be strengthened”, says University Board Chair Peter Larsson.

The formal decision is made by the Government in spring. Malin Broberg takes office as Vice-Chancellor on 1 July 2023 and will be the 20th Vice-Chancellor of University of Gothenburg.
