Professor Christopher Gillberg has been awarded the Hilda and Alfred Eriksson Prize for his groundbreaking work in understanding, diagnosing, and treating ADHD and autism during his 50-year career.

Professor Christopher Gillberg has been awarded the prestigious Hilda and Alfred Eriksson’s Prize for his internationally leading pioneering efforts that have led to an improved understanding, as well as diagnosis and treatment, of ADHD and autism spectrum disorders in children and adolescents.

Professor Gillberg has devoted over 50 years to the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. He is recognised as the world’s most experienced and active clinician and researcher in this area, with more than 50 years of extensive research and clinical work treating patients and families facing complex psychiatric and neurodevelopmental challenges. He has published approximately 800 peer-reviewed scientific articles on ESSENCE disorders.

The Hilda and Alfred Eriksson’s prize is awarded annually to individuals for outstanding research efforts to alleviate diseases in humans and animals.

Professor Gillberg will be formally presented with the award on 19th November 2024 at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
