- It is a great honour to receive this prize, not least considering the outstanding researchers who have been awarded in the past, says Johan Woxenius.
The prize consists of an individual prize of 300,000 SEK and a period as a guest researcher at a university in Sweden. Johan Woxenius will work part-time at Lund University until September 2025.
– I'm really looking forward to working more with my colleagues in Lund. Transport research attracts researchers from many disciplines, and I hope that my experience of coordinating large and subject-wide initiatives can create benefits for Lund University. I will work at the Division of Packaging Logistics and my research on unit loads such as containers and semi-trailers complements their knowledge of logistically adapted product packaging. In addition to writing together, I will teach and supervise PhD students.
In its motivation, the board of Volvo's Research and Educational Foundations (VREF) highlights his collaboration with society and that Johan Woxenius has a high international scientific reputation and a unique ability to explain complex contexts and challenges to the general public.
“Johan Woxenius' interdisciplinary research and extensive collaboration with various stakeholders have led to significant societal benefits, for example by improving the connection between container ports and the surrounding regions via rail. His proposed program at Lund University will provide excellent opportunities for academic collaboration as well as supervision and teaching in sustainable freight transport,” says Thorbjörn Holmström, Chairman of the Board of Volvo's Research and Educational Foundations (VREF).
