RISE remains interested in taking over Kristineberg Center

Published

RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden, is still interested in taking over the management of Kristineberg Center. RISE does not rule out the possibility of continuing to operate the station and developing the core activities at Kristineberg into a research and innovation centre.

“It is gratifying that RISE is still showing interest. If we can hand over the main responsibility to RISE, it will be possible for marine research to continue at Kristineberg,” says Göran Hilmersson, Dean of the Faculty of Science.

"A prerequisite is that the activities are financially sustainable in the long term. RISE has not secured funding and is in dialogue with several financiers.

In order not to waste any time, RISE wants to continue the dialogue with the University of Gothenburg to facilitate the signing of a transfer agreement as soon as possible.

“We look forward to constructive dialogues with RISE during the autumn,” says Göran Hilmersson.

Operations at Kristineberg will continue as planned during the autumn.
