Short description

This project aims to develop an AI platform that can assist people with different disabilities to increase their traffic safety and independence. The platform should be able to adapt to the user's individual needs and preferences, as well as to the dynamic changes in the environment.

Artificial intelligence for traffic safety for people with disabilities

We want to create an AI platform to help people with disabilities travel safer and more independently. The platform should adapt to the person's needs and traffic. We also want to understand how people with disabilities move in traffic and what risks they are exposed to.

The purpose of the project is to contribute to better road monitoring and a safe security system for everyone who moves in traffic.

Research focus

This project focuses on improving the safety and understanding of vulnerable road users with reduced mobility in different traffic environments. Research will analyze their movement patterns and the safety challenges they face in different environments - both in terms of external threats and perceived danger.

Method

We will interview road users and collect and compile an open dataset using the research vehicle SnowFox (equipped with advanced sensors) at Chalmers' REVERE-lab.

Project goal

The goal of this initiative is to enable the development of automated road monitoring and active safety systems to improve traffic safety for everyone.

Collaborating partners

The Department of Social Work at the University of Gothenburg, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers Industriteknik, traffic research center SAFER.

Participants in the Project

Jörgen Lundälv, Lecturer at the Department of Social Work.
