Science for environmental governance: dilemmas in advisory processes
Research project
Active research
Short description
How should scientific knowledge and advice be developed and used in environmental governance? Scientific advisory procedures need to ensure scientific standards of credibility in new governance contexts that include participation and transparency. This project investigates the tension between scientific credibility and democratic legitimacy within EU fisheries and marine governance. The aim is to contribute to an improved understanding of science-society relations and how they are realigned and made sustainable under new governance requirements.
