Translational studies of growth and bone acquisition during childhood
Short description
Bone tissue of children in health and disease will be studied from many aspects. Much of the focus of bone tissue has been devoted to adults. It is of great importance to carry out translational research in the field of pediatrics where one is able to intervene earlier or increase quality of life for many more years. An increased knowledge of children’s bone health, both in health and disease, can in the future prevent growth problems and minimize the side effects of anorexia nervosa, diabetes and prematurity. It is of great importance to find new non-invasive clinical markers for bone diseases. Strong and healthy bone tissue in a growing generation of children will help to avoid osteoporosis.
