Short description

In July 2021, Sweden criminalized the act of committing certain crimes in the presence of children. The aim of this project is to study the legal handling of cases involving violation of children’s integrity.

The project contains two studies. The first study consists of an interview study that examines children's experiences of participating in criminal investigations and court proceedings when witnessing crimes between relatives. The second study aims to examine the court's written assessments in court and court of appeal judgments concerning violations of children’s integrity. Overall, the project aims to evaluate, from different perspectives, whether the new Swedish legislation achieves what it aims to do - to give children increased legal rights when witnessing crimes between relatives.
