Funding
Postgraduate students appointed to a doctoral studentship shall primarily devote themselves to their studies. A doctoral studentship shall be a full-time post.
PhD studies in Sweden are free of charge and all students that are accepted will be financed.
About the employment
The maximum duration of a doctoral studentship is eight years. However, the period may not exceed the equivalent of four years of full-time postgraduate studies. The employment period may be extended under certain circumstances, such as if the student has been on parental leave.
The appointment may be for a part-time post if a third-cycle student so requests, but for no less than 50 per cent of a full-time post and only after approval by the Head of Department.
Doctoral studentships commonly include some form of departmental work, such as administration, research or teaching. The departmental duties may not comprise more than 20 per cent of a full-time post.

Externally employed postgraduate student
The Department of Business Administration has the right to accept applicants who are not funded via a doctoral studentship, so-called externally employed postgraduate students.
An externally employed postgraduate student is a student employed by an external company, another higher education institution or another municipal or state agency. These students usually conduct their postgraduate studies on a half-time basis within the framework of their external employment. The Department must, prior to admission, ensure that the funding of the studies can be secured for the entire duration of the programme and that the student will be able to complete his/her postgraduate studies within eight years (for a doctoral degree).
