The focus on human rights brought Emmanuella to Sweden

The student Emmanuella Oduro-Appiah is reading Master's in Social Work in Human Rights in Gothenburg. She thinks that because it's an international program it gives you that international platform that you need to understand different aspects. “The big goal is to go back to Ghana and set up an elderly care home for them”, Emmanuella says.

Hello Emmanuella! Why did you decide to do the Master's programme in Gothenburg?

The reason why I chose this particular program was because of the human right aspect to be able to deal with a vulnerable people. You need human rights. So it was the best for me.

What is it about the programme that you like the most?

What I learned from this program is it helps you to be more analytical. It helps you to be able to focus on the problem and then understand the different aspects. And because it's an international program it gives you that international platform that you need to understand problems. And I think that is beautiful.

What do you have in mind for your future and how will your studies help you to achieve your goals?

So, the big goal is to go back to Ghana and set up an elderly care home for them. And I've come to understand how important it is for the elderly to also get that kind of care.
