Funding of research and collaboration activities
The Centre for Tourism (CFT) annually funds activities related to research and internal/external collaboration. The aim is to support activities that could fulfil the objectives of CFT (see below) and stimulate tourism research and collaboration. Please see criteria, formalities and examples of activities that are eligible for funding below.
Criteria to fulfill for funding from the Centre for Tourism (CFT)
- Funding is primarily given to researchers at the four participating faculties at the University of Gothenburg (UGOT): The Artistic Faculty, Humanities, Science and Technology, and the School of Business, Economics and Law.
- Funded projects should (if possible) include researchers from at least two faculties (see participating faculties above).
- The applicant should show that he/she has (or will) apply for funding from other sources (in particular for Symposiums and Conferences, Co-financing of research projects, conference participation).
- The applicant should be employed at UGOT. PhD-students need to discuss if they are eligible with Head of CFT.
- The activity that requires funding should have any of the following three objectives: (1) Initiate and improve multidisciplinary collaboration within UGOT, (2) Add value academically (for example multidisciplinary publications, external funding) or (3) Initiate and improve collaboration with non-academic partners.
Formalities
- Applications can be sent to CFT throughout the year.
- Maximum amount for an application is 100 000 SEK. If higher amount, please contact head of CFT.
- Application via template (see below), which is sent to cft@gu.se
- Decision within 30 days by the executive group of CFT
Examples of activities that are eligible for funding
- Organizing events such as conferences, workshops, excursions, and visits to relevant stakeholders within the framework of CFT.
- Inviting external researchers for seminars or visits.
- Funding for smaller-scale projects, such as the development of reports/research overviews on current and in-demand topics.
- Communication efforts beyond the support provided by each researcher’s institution.
- Funding to start/support national and international research networks.
- Co-financing of overhead costs for researchers whose institutions do not cover full overhead (e.g., applications to BFUF, RJ, the Kamprad Foundation, Handelsrådet, etc.).
- Co-financing of collaboration projects with non-academic partners.
- Costs for participating in conferences when these are not covered by project funds, as well as other travel-related expenses – visits to other universities, etc.
- Seed money for applying for larger external research programs.
- Annual researcher meetings for CFT.
