Bakgrund
Jag har arbetat på psykologiska institutionen sedan 2005 och har en Fil. Dr i psykologi. Jag läste min grundutbildning i psykologi vid Queen’s University of Belfast, och har bl. a en Steg-1 utbildning i psykoterapi från Göteborgs Psykoterapi Institut. Jag har tidigare arbetat med konflikthantering i skolan, samt inom stödverksamhet för barn och ungdomar med cancer eller HIV, barn med föräldrar i fängelse och barn som bevittnat våld i familjen.
Undervisning
Jag undervisar vid psykologiska institutionen i kvalitativ metod, utvecklingspsykologi med inriktning på familj och föräldraskap samt funktionsnedsättning. Jag föreläser även utanför institutionen kring mitt forskningsområde.
Forskningsintresse
I min forskning fokuserar jag på olika aspekter av samspel mellan barn och föräldrar. Det handlar om barn till föräldrar med psykisk ohälsa samt föräldrar till barn med barn med intellektuella funktionshinder. Jag undersöker hur faktorer i närmiljön såsom kamratrelationer, lärar-elevrelationer och familjerelationer påverkar barnet. Andra frågor som min forskning berör är på vilket sätt föräldraförmågan påverkas av förälderns psykiska ohälsa och den medicinska behandling föräldern förskrivs. Min avhandling undersökte familjer som har barn med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning. Jag tittade specifikt på föräldrars uppfattningar och upplevelser av barnet och dess diagnos utifrån olika perspektiv såsom anknytning-omvårdnad, barns temperament och psykiska hälsa, samt hur pappors upplevelser utvecklas över tid.
Pågående forskning
Idag forskar jag kring föräldrars psykiska ohälsa och den behandling de erbjuds inom primärvård och psykiatri. I samarbete med bland annat Drottnigns Silvias barn- och ungdomssjukhus samt Sahlgrensak Universitetssjukhuset bedriver jag forskning kring psykologiska faktorer vid kirurgi.
