Researcher
Department of Earth SciencesAbout Janina Konarska
During my PhD studies at the Goteborg Urban Climate Group, I looked at the cooling effects of urban greenery. After defending my thesis in 2015, I currently work on my postdoctoral project within two research groups: Gothenburg University Laboratory for Dendrochronology (GULD) and the Green Infrastructure Research Group (GIRG) at the University of Melbourne, Australia. In the (Formas 2016-00833, 2017-2021) I investigate tree-climate interactions in urban environments, with the focus on tree health, growth and cooling effects in a changing climate. The aim is to increase our knowledge about tree species and planting regimes (e.g. Water Sensitive Urban Design, WSUD) suitable for the warming cities.
