About Lars Karlsson

Background Lars Karlsson is Doctor of Political Science (2003) and Senior Lecturer in public administration. He is a member of the Institution's board and, in the role of Equality Ombudsman and assistant safety representative, member of the Institution's work environment group. Research interests Lars Karlsson's main research interest concerns the relationship between the public sector and the citizen. Current research project In his thesis, he studied rights and accountability in the welfare state, while his research interest since then has been oriented towards political means of control. Teaching Lars Karlsson is coordinator for courses in the bachelor's and master's programmes in public administration. He also participates in teaching the third-cycle programme and the Institution's contract education programme. He also acts as a supervisor for doctoral theses.

At the bachelor's and master's level, Lars Karlsson is coordinator for courses all of which are related to his research interests. These deal with normative theory in relation to public politics, policy analysis and political means of control. He is also a supervisor for bachelor's projects and master's theses.

Lars Karlsson also has significant experience of teaching on many courses at several institutions and seats of learning. He has taught at the Institute of Social Sciences, the Institute for Social Work and in the teacher education programme at the University of Gothenburg and he has also run courses at Linnaeus University in Växjö. Collaboration Lars Karlsson gives lectures and presentations in the surrounding area. He has also written several reports on assignment from official agencies and municipalities as well as participating in the Institution's contract education courses.
