About Lennart Jacobsson

Lennart Jacobsson (born 1954) has a long experience in clinical and epidemiological research of rheumatoid arthritis, pain syndromes, Sjögren´s syndrome, spondyloarthritis and gout.

His group has published several key original findings, such as the protective effect of TNF-inhibitors on cardiovascular events in rheumatoid arthritis and mechanism behind lymphoma development in Sjögren´s syndrome.

Currently his group are exploring the epidemiology of various forms of spondyloarthritis and gout, using both unique source of national Swedish registers and translational research of clinical cohorts. Recently, they have through epidemiological studies demonstrated the differential effect of different TNF-inhibitors on the risk of uveitis in AS and a possible deleterious effect of low serum uric acid levels on the risk of Alzheimers disease.

For his scientific work he was awarded the Nanna Svartz price in 2010 and the Pfizer rheumatology prize in 2014.
