About Per Thilander

Per is active within the Centre for Global HRM (CGHRM), an interdisciplinary center established between the School of Business, Economics and Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences. CGHRM aims to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness and promote a sustainable working life by initiating, driving, and developing relevant HRM research. The research is intended to be utilized in the best possible way through seminars, conferences, and new meeting platforms that bring together representatives from academia, businesses, and public organizations. The center also works to strengthen education in the HRM field, both at the undergraduate and advanced levels.

Between 2014 and 2020, Per was one of the two directors of CGHRM, and since 2020, he has been a member of the CGHRM steering group while leading the research platform on Digitalization and HRM.

Per's research areas include digitalization and HRM, specifically how HR functions need to adapt to contribute to transformation and change, both within the organization as a whole and within HR itself. Additionally, his research explores how businesses and public organizations introduce new data-driven and digital methods, tools, and working practices to enhance decision-making in the HR field (People Analytics), as well as the challenges and opportunities this presents for different organizational actors.

Per also conducts research on talent management in the public sector, investigating how organizations work with various forms of professionalization and career development and how these initiatives can be understood from a retention perspective. Furthermore, he is involved in research on HRM in SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), focusing on how an HR perspective can contribute to aligning profitability with a human-centered approach.
