Stefan Ekman
Senior Advisor
SNDAbout Stefan Ekman
Stefan Ekman has a PhD in English literature, with a thesis on the function of environments in fantasy literature, and was accepted as docent in 2019. He also has a MSc in economics with a focus on development and environment. He works for the Swedish National Data Service (SND), between 2013 and 2021 as domain specialist in the humanities and coordinator for teaching and training, from 2024 as senior advisor. In his current research, he explores a framework for how worlds of speculative fiction are constructed for critical analysis, and has analysed the role of social criticism in so-called urban fantasy. Within the latter profile, he recently published Urban Fantasy: Exploring Modernity through Magic (Lever Press, 2024) which is available with open access.
