Centres of expertise and research

A centre of expertise and research serves as a meeting point for students and researchers as well as representatives from the commercial, industrial and public sectors.

Centres of expertise and research are cross-disciplinary and may include several academic subjects, faculty areas and higher education institutions. The purpose of these centres is to manage areas and topics of interest that by nature span across several academic disciplines. The following centres of expertise and research have their host department at the Faculty of Science.

Centre for Future Chemical Risk Assessment and Management Strategies

The Centre for Future Chemical Risk Assessment and Management Strategies will focus on how research can contribute to making better analyses and political governance in relation to complex chemical emissions (“chemical cocktails”) and the consequences that they have for the ecosystem?

Centre for Marine Evolutionary Biology

The Linnaeus Centre for Marine Evolutionary Biology focus on evolutionary processes and mechanisms in marine species and populations. A main goal is to increase our understanding of how marine organisms adapt to new environmental conditions, for example changing sea water pH, temperature and salinity.

Centre for Sea and Society

The centre will be the new entry point to all activities in the marine and maritime field within the University of Gothenburg. The centre will initiate, stimulate and develop transdisciplinary research and education within the marine area but also focus on cooperation with external partners. Associated to the Centre for Sea and Society are Aquaculture Centre West (UGOT Challenges initiative) and our Marine Chemical Ecology research.
