About Lena Nylander

Lena is a medical doctor and specialist in general psychiatry since 1980 and has been working in adult psychiatry in Lund, Sweden. In 2011 Lena successfully defended her thesis entitled “Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorders in adult psychiatric patients”.

Since 2013 she has been working in a regional consultant team focusing on adults with intellectual disability with and without autism and severe challenging behaviours.

For the past 25 she has been teaching at advanced courses for psychiatrists and other professionals, as well as lecturing for the general public. Lena has authored textbook chapters and books on the subjects of ADHD, autism and intellectual disability.

Lena is also an honorary member of the Swedish Autism Association and of the Swedish Psychiatric Association.

Research interests

Lena's research has focused on adults with autism, ADHD and/or intellectual disability.
