Peter Korp
Professor
Department of Food and Nutrition and Sport ScienceAbout Peter Korp
Peter Korp took a PhD in sociology at the University of Gothenburg 2002 with the thesis The promotion of health – a sociological study of the institutionalization of health promotion.
The thesis deals with health promotion as an idea and how that idea fleshed out in higher education and emerging profession, but also its contextual (ideological) framework. Peter's research has a discourse analytic focus and has primarily consisted of analyzes of ideology and practice related to the concept of health promotion. Between 2002 and 2005, Peter was responsible for a project in the Learn-IT, Health Promotion and IT, focussing on how the Internet's range of information and communication facilities can help strengthen people's ability to actively take control of their health. Peter has also devoted himself to critical examination of the concept of "healthy lifestyle." He is also interested in issues regarding obesity-stigma and the current discourses of obesity.
