About Ann-Sofie Holm

Reseach interests

My main research interests concern aspects of gender and education, school choice and marketisation of the Swedish education system. Currently I am involved in a large ongoing research project called: ”Inclusive and competitive? Upper secondary schools in the intersection of social inclusion and marketization " funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR). Previously I have been involved in the following research projects: "Changing sex/gender orders in school and education: policy, perspectives and practice" (Skolverket, 2003-2008); ”Upper secondary education as a market” (VR, 2008-2011) and "School achivements and gender. On teaching, youth groups and local conditions" (VR, 2011-2013).

I am a member of PAGE (Power and Agency in Education) which is a research environment at the Department of Education and Special Education at the University of Gothenburg. In addition I am a member of the Centre of Excellence "Justice through education in the Nordic countries" funded by NordForsk (2013-2018). I am also a board member of the Swedish Educational Research Association (SWERA).
