About Karin Nilsson

Karin Nilsson began her PhD-studies at CBAR in May 2016. She graduated from the University of Gothenburg in 2011 with a master of science in pharmacy.

Karin is researching the mechanism by which Wnt16 regulates cortical bone. Wnt16, being a unique and powerful regulator of cortical bone, is of interest when studying possible treatment options for osteoporosis. Today’s treatment against osteoporosis targets mainly trabecular bone, whilst the majority of the fractures associated with osteoporosis is due to reduced cortical bone mass, resulting in a need for novel osteoporosis treatment.
