Nicklas Håkansson is an associate professor in Media and Communication at JMG, and holds a PhD in political science from University of Gothenburg (2000).

Research Areas

My research areas are to be found in the field of political communication; in particular political rhetoric/language and propaganda, and political journalism (its output as well as its preconditions and governing ideas). This strand of research is situated in the intersection of political science perspectives on democracy and the public sphere on the one hand, and perspectives on journalism and media change derived from media studies on the other.

Current Research Projects

The mediatization of political accountability – media frames of environmental and industrial crises during four decades (with Bengt Johansson, Monika Djerf-Pierre and Mats Ekström). Financed by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).
