Our research

What is “broken heart syndrome”? Why are growing numbers of people getting diabetes? At the Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, we are seeking answers to questions about some of our society’s most common diseases and conditions.

Today, cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes are among the world’s most prevalent and life-threatening disorders. We strive to improve health and medical care by finding, through research, methods to prevent and remedy these ills. We work closely with health care providers and conduct both basic research and patient-based and epidemiological register research. Our department is located at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU) in Mölndal, Östra and Sahlgrenska Academy.
