Health Economics, Policy and Evaluation Research
Health economics explores how healthcare resources can be used in ways that create the greatest benefit for society, examining questions such as treatments should be prioritized, how healthcare should be financed, and how providers should be paid. By assessing the costs and consequences of different policies and interventions, our findings help decision-makers allocate limited resources fairly and efficiently.
Our research
The Health Economics, Policy and Evaluation Research (HEPER) group conducts research that supports evidence-based decision-making in healthcare and society. Our interdisciplinary team uses economic, epidemiological, and statistical methods to evaluate the impact of health policies, measure the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions, and study inequalities in access to care. Much of our work draws on Sweden’s unique population-wide register data, which enables robust analyses of health, healthcare use, and policy outcomes. Our goal is to generate knowledge that supports informed decision-making and helps create a fair, sustainable healthcare system.
