Viable Seas
Viable Seas is a national marine and maritime collaboration platform that works to unite academia, business and the public sector in the pursuit of creating a sustainable blue economy.
Viable Seas started in 2022 as a continuation of the previous collaboration The Maritime Cluster of West Sweden. The ambition is to contribute to the development of a sustainable blue economy not only in West Sweden but throughout the country and Europe. The idea of Viable Seas is to act as an intermediary between academia, industry, and the public sector, and thus facilitate collaborations that lead to new sustainable solutions for how we can use the ocean's ecosystem resources. Viable Seas will also serve as a knowledge resource for the Swedish government and authorities regarding questions about the blue economy of the future. The University of Gothenburg is one of seven partners where the IVL Swedish Environmental Institute acts as the host organization.
