About Elisabeth Jönsson Bergman

My research focuses on the endocrine regulation of appetite and growth in fish, with particular emphasis on the role of the hormone ghrelin. The research is of basic interest to understand fundamental biological processes that determine how animals allocate or mobilize energy reserves. The research also addresses questions relevant for the aquaculture industry. In this context, one important aim of my research is to gain knowledge about the impact of feed composition on growth performance of farmed fish. This is important when trying to find new, alternative aquaculture ingredients that are sustainable and can replace fish meal and fish oil.

I am a member of the research group "Fish Endocrinology Laboratory" - the FEL group. I am the research coordinator of the transdisciplinary marine aquaculture research center SWEMARC: www.gu.se/swemarc-marint-vattenbruk

My work tasks at the department also include teaching, equality representative and outreach activities.
