Professor
Department of PsychologyAbout Karl Ask
Biography
Ph.D in Psychology 2006, Docent 2011, Professor 2018. Member of the research unit for Criminal, Legal, and Investigative Psychology (CLIP).
Teaching
I teach social, cognitive, and legal psychology. Lecture topics include research methods, social cognition, emotion, and investigative psychology.
Research
My primary research interests are: (1) Emotion and social cognition. How does our current emotional state influence judgments of others, particularly assignments of responsibility, blame, and punishment? (2) Credibility judgments. What social-cognitive processes are involved when people assess credibility? What are the roles of affective and cognitive feelings in these processes? (3) Investigative and legal decision making. How do motivation, emotion, and situational factors influence judgments of criminal evidence? (4) Psychology of crime victims. How are crime victims perceived and treated by the public and the legal system?
