Peter Andiné MD PhD is an Associate Professor in forensic psychiatry at the University of Gothenburg. He works at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology as an Assistant Professor in forensic psychiatry. He is a Senior Consultant in forensic psychiatry at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the National Board of Forensic Medicine. He is also Scientific Advisor in forensic psychiatry at the National Board of Health and Welfare. Andiné has a background in preclinical research with interest in the neurobiological mechanisms of brain diseases. The scientific work includes a scientific evaluation of forensic psychiatric examinations, a search for new neurobiological tools in the understanding of aggressive antisocial behaviour, as well as investigations about the relationship between understanding, responsibility and legal intention, and studies in the area of neurolaw. Recently Andiné, as a collaborator within the Centre for Ethics, Law and Mental Health (CELAM), received a programme grant from the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare to establish the scientific and clinical basis for an evidence-based practice within forensic psychiatry in Sweden. Andiné is a member of the executive committee and the steering group of CELAM. He was recently an expert within the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services when scientifically evaluating methods used for treatment in forensic psychiatry.
