Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Nordic Gender Fund. The fund's first call for proposals opens on 15 October and closes on 15 November 2024.
Q: Will you provide an overhead or bench fees or in any other way cover administrative costs?
A: You can apply for coverage of all costs that you consider necessary. In the budget form that you will be asked to fill in, you will have to specify the costs, such as overheads.
Q: What amount of funding can one project request?
A: We have decided not to put a maximum amount for applications. Just make sure that you motivate your costs in your application and in the budget form that you will be asked to fill in. The total amount of the fund is 500 000 SEK (Swedish kronor).
Q: Do you have thoughts on how many projects that will be funded?
A: Since this is the first time we call for applications for the Nordic gender fund it is not possible predict neither the number of applications, nor say anything on how many we will grant funding.
Q: I have a pilot study that I like to develop, how much can I apply for?
A: The purpose of the fund is to support infrastructure for researchers in the broad gender studies field in the Nordic region so projects aimed at individual research projects will not be granted funding.
Q: Are there any regulations preventing Nordic Gender Fund grants to be used for workshopping a further funding application from a different body? Could writing an application to another fund, for establishing a Doctoral Network be included as part of the proposed activities when applying to the Nordic Gender Fund?
A: It's important that you to state the aim and the identified needs for the activities applied for.
Q: We are planning an international conference that will not take place in the Nordic region. Are we still eligible to apply for funding from the Nordic gender fund?
A: In your application, you must specify how the conference will be a part of the research infrastructure for researchers working in the Nordic region.
Q: Funding is available for ‘other activities’. Can you please elaborate what this category includes?
A: Since this is the first time we call for applications for the Nordic gender fund we believe it is important to let researchers define their infrastructure needs themselves. These needs may not be covered by the categories ‘networks ‘, ‘conferences ‘ or ‘journals ‘, so ‘other activities ‘ could be something that you and your colleagues need in your research practice.
Q: On your website it says that to be eligible to apply, you must be affiliated with an institution at a higher education institution in a Nordic country. Will an institute be eligible? A: We will be generous in our interpretation when it comes to affiliation, but a suggestion is also to contact a colleague at a more “traditional” university to make the application with.
Q: Could you tell us anything about the contents of the application form, as well as the length?
A: The application form will ask you to state the purpose of the applied activities, your research problem, what kind of infrastructure need that your project will meet and your plans to make a long-term contribution to the research focus in question. You will be asked to fill in a budget form and motivate your costs.
