Excursions with Research Vessel

During the summer, we offer two activities for the public on board the Tjärnö Laboratory's research vessel Nereus. On one, we collect algae and animals from the seabed and take them to the station for further research in the lab. On the other, we lower a remote-controlled underwater camera and get a live broadcast from the exciting life in the depths of the Kosterfjord. Both activities has to be booked in advance. Since most participants are Swedish-speaking, we communicate mainly in Swedish. With no-Swedish speaking participants we will do our best to also communicate in English.

Diversity of the Sea

From the research vessel Nereus we make measurements in the water and collect algae and animals from the Kosterhavet Marine National Park, and continue to look more into them in the laboratory in stereo microscope. Entrance to Tjärnö Aquarium the same day is included.
